ANTIGEN TEST

The antigen test is a rapid test which measures the presence or absence of viral proteins (antigens) from outside the virus.

This is suitable for people with symptoms of less than 5 days’ evolution and the result is reported as positive or negative. The test lets you know whether there is a current active infection. Negative results do not rule out SARS-CoV-2 infection and should not be used as the only basis to determine treatment or make decisions related to patient management, including decisions about infection control.

• Type of sample: nasopharyngeal and/or oropharyngeal exudate.
• Results: the results will be communicated to the patient within 30 minutes of taking the test.*
